MI training workshop
This 2-day workshop will be of interest to people in diverse settings and circumstances where conversations about change are an everyday reality – healthcare, leadership, sport, coaching, addiction services and beyond. This workshop will build on introductory level training in MI and support you to advance your skills.

Orla Adams, RD. is a registered Dietitian originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland and now living in Cardiff, Wales. She has 25 years’ experience working in the NHS and specialising in weight management. She delivers MI training for multiple disciplines in health care alongside her NHS work. Orla became a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) in 2011. She has previously served as supportive committee member for MINT UK and Ireland chapter, and on the Program Planning Committee for the annual international MINT Forum. Orla completed her training in MICA (Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment) in 2019 and also completed training in learning to use MITI (Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity) 4.2.1 in 2020. Orla is passionate about supporting people to develop their skills and confidence with Motivational Interviewing.
Stephen Rollnick, Ph.D. is a retired clinical psychologist, co-founder of MI and currently Honorary Distinguished Professor in the School of Medicine, Cardiff University, Wales. He was a practicing mental health psychologist in the UK NHS for 16 years and pioneered the application of MI in health care.
Over the last 25 years he has trained practitioners in diverse settings and cultures. He and William Miller have collaborated closely over this period, and produced four editions of the basic text on MI. Along with close colleagues they developed the international MINT network for trainers. Steve’s recent work has included a book for school teachers and sports coaches, as well as the fully revised fourth edition of Motivational Interviewing: Helping people change and grow. He now works mostly in sport, mentoring coaches and athletes.

This in-person workshop will be held at Glamorgan Cricket, a world-class cricket stadium and events space set amidst the beautiful grounds of Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The training will take place in the Amber Lounge, full of natural light with floor to ceiling windows and panoramic views of the hallowed turf of the international cricket grounds.
Refreshments will be served in the Pyramid Suite during registration, mid-morning and afternoon breaks, and a fresh hot buffet will be served for lunch by the venue’s dedicated chefs. Onsite parking is available (limited, pre-booking required) and the venue is within walking distance of Cardiff city centre, train station and bus routes.
